The Challenge:
In advance of turning its ultra-powerful stock screener into a premium online service, Reuters asked us to review the user experience and make as many improvements as possible that didn’t require large-scale back-end re-engineering.
The Strategy: There were many areas for “blocking and tackling” improvements, such as sharpening the typographic hierarchy, making the next step in a task flow more obvious, and redesigning the presentation of lists so that they were easy to scan and sort. We also made the extremely complex processes visually simpler—and more literal. For example, when taking an action resulted in the screener displaying fewer stocks, we literally tapered the display area to show that there were fewer items.
The Deliverable: The resulting product was awarded a “Best of the Web” and “Best Stock Screener” by Forbes.
